‘Baywatch’ Is Back: First Trailer Reveals a New Generation of Lifeguards
The beach is officially open again. The first trailer for the upcoming Baywatch reboot has arrived, bringing back the iconic slow-motion runs, red swimsuits, and over-the-top beach action that made the franchise a pop culture phenomenon.
According to early reports, the new series is set to debut during the 2026–2027 television season and will feature a mix of returning franchise veterans alongside an entirely new cast of lifeguards.
Among the new stars stepping onto the sand are Stephen Amell, Brooks Nader, Livvy Dunne, Shay Mitchell, and Noah Beck. The trailer leans heavily into nostalgia while updating the series with a younger, social-media-era cast designed to connect with a new audience.
Fans of the original series will also spot familiar names returning to the franchise. Original cast members Erika Eleniak and David Chokachi are both expected to appear in the reboot.
The Trailer Brings Classic ‘Baywatch’ Energy
The teaser wastes no time embracing everything fans remember from the original show:
High-speed beach rescues
Dramatic ocean action
Slow-motion running sequences
Bright red swimsuits
Big personalities and bigger explosions
Early footage shows Stephen Amell leading the team as Hobie Buchannon, a nod to the classic character lineage from the original series. Meanwhile, the reboot appears to blend action-comedy with modern influencer culture, which has already sparked strong reactions online.
A Franchise That Refuses to Fade Away
The original Baywatch became one of the most recognizable TV series in the world during the 1990s, turning stars like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson into global icons. The franchise later received a feature film adaptation in 2017 starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
Now Fox is betting there’s still plenty of life left in the brand — and judging by the online reaction to the first teaser, audiences are ready to hit the beach again.
